Establishment of Kluczbork Mechanical Plant and Foundry on the basis of a post-German company located in Kluczbork. At the beginning the production was mainly service and workmanship limited to repairs of agricultural equipment, food industry devices and providing services to the local population.
A breakthrough year in the history of the company. By virtue of the Ordinance of the Ministers of Small Industry and Craft and Heavy Industry, the supervision over the enterprise was taken over by the Minister of Heavy Industry. Since then, the plant has been developing dynamically. As a result of government decisions, the company was expanded in three stages.
First stage of the plant expansion. The warehouse taken over from the National Grain Company, located on the outskirts of Kluczbork, was adapted and expanded. A production hall, a social building and a trestle bridge for handling metallurgical materials were built. The new production hall gave rise to the location of the new plant.
Implementation of the second stage of development. Built and commissioned: 2 production buildings, office building, warehouses and a number of technical infrastructure facilities.
As a result of the expansion, the company changed its business profile, introducing a number of new products into the scope of activity, including above all: machines and equipment used in fibreboard factories, machines and equipment for continuous transport, gantry and overhead travelling cranes with high lifting capacity, harbour cranes, dust extraction equipment for the mining and cement industry.
A number of these devices were prototypical. From 1958 to the present day, the company's machines and equipment have been sold on foreign markets in almost all continents, including in Austria, Bulgaria, China, Ghana, Indonesia, Iran, Morocco, India, Romania, Norway and Russia.
The Minister of Heavy Industry, by Order No 62/Org/67 of 11 November 1967, gave the company a new name: Fabryka Maszyn i Urządzeń FAMAK (FAMAK Machinery and Equipment Factory).
In the 1960s, the company produced and delivered the first ZOS-160 spreader to Morocco. It has made a significant contribution to the development of Moroccan industry and has been commemorated on the 5 dirham note. The note was issued in 1970 by BANQUE DU MAROC.
Third stage of the company's expansion. During this period, the main warehouse building with staff facilities was put into use, the storage and assembly yard was hardened and equipped with lifting machinery. At the same time, the existing facilities were modernised and the machine park was expanded.
The restructuring programme prepared by the company won first prize in a competition announced by the Minister of Industry and Trade and the Industrial Development Agency. In the implementation of restructuring tasks, it was necessary to change the mentality of the employees. The fact that some of the people working in the factory often visited Western countries was helpful in this respect. This made it easier to communicate and instil the Western business approach in the company.
FAMAK was one of the first companies in Poland to recognize the need for a systemic approach to quality in accordance with global standards defined in ISO 9001. The result of these activities was the quality system certificate granted by DQS and PCBC in 1994, extended in 1999 to an integrated quality, environmental and occupational health and safety management system.
A comprehensive approach to quality has led to the implementation of a management philosophy called TQM – Total Quality Management. The degree of implementation and its impact on the development of FAMAK has been appreciated by the jury of the Polish Quality Award Competition.
Quality Award competition FAMAK SA, on the recommendation of the Office of the Council of Ministers, was accepted as a member of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) based in Brussels as the first company from Central and Eastern European countries.
Since April 1, 1996 FAMAK started to operate as a sole shareholder company of the State Treasury, established as a result of ownership transformation from Fabryka Maszyn i Urządzeń "FAMAK" Przedsiębiorstwo Państwowe (state enterprise).
FAMAK SA has been awarded the Outstanding Polish Exporter Grand Prize.
As a result of the privatization process of Fabryka Maszyn i Urządzeń FAMAK SA, the State Treasury - under the share sales agreement of 29 December 1999 – sold 904,000 shares in FAMAK SA to Zakłady Remontowe Energetyki Katowice SA and Kredyt Bank SA, constituting in total 40% of the share capital. On 29 December 1999, a new phase in the company's history began. The first private investors appeared.
FAMAK SA was nominated by the Minister of Economy to the Brands Academy.
After increasing the share capital and making State Treasury shares available to eligible employees free of charge, FAMAK SA became a company with a majority of private capital. Since 2000, the main shareholders were: ZRE Katowice SA and Kredyt Bank SA.
In July, FUGO SA of Konin acquired a significant block of shares in FAMAK SA from ZRE Katowice SA and thus FUGO SA became the main shareholder of the company.
In May, a significant block of shares in FAMAK SA was acquired by TDJ SA, to become the property of FAMUR SA, a member of the TDJ Group, in November. The support of FAMUR SA, one of the world's leading manufacturers of machinery and equipment used in underground mining, allowed FAMAK SA to develop its offer and increase its market share. The FAMUR Group also supported the company with its experience in the delivery of complete systems, foreign sales department and financial resources, enabling the performance of several contracts of significant values. FAMAK acquired a majority stake in Biuro Projektów i Realizacji Inwestycji SEPARATOR sp. z o.o. engineering design office of Gliwice.
Since March the company is called FAMUR FAMAK SA.
In February, the company's shareholding structure changed. TDJ Equity I sp. z o.o. has taken over the control package of FAMUR FAMAK SA. Currently, TDJ Equity I holds 68.12% of the share capital, while 31.88% is owned by FAMUR SA.
